Two drawer, undercounter Kitchenaid fridge KUDF204ESB00 - upper drawer not defrosting

I have a three year old Two drawer - under counter Kitchenaid fridge KUDF204ESB00 -

The upper drawer has stopped defrosting.

I believe their is a way to trigger manual defrost mode in order to facilitate testing but I can't locate the manual on-line.  The manual would be ideal but can anyone provide the procedure for triggering manual defrost?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

btw, I have tried the 1) hold the door alarm button, 2) push the temp down button to no avail.   Also tried various buttons, combinations, etc.  No luck.

Again, any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

I'll try calling Kitchenaid Monday and see if they will actually talk to me about this.

and I looked through the owners manual carefully to see if the procedure might be in there but it is not.

Found the Whirlpool manual for their version of this fridge.  Controls are slightly different but I should be fine.   btw, the sequence is hold the Max Cool and Holiday buttons at the same time.

faulty wire harness

Which wiring harnesss?  Is there a tech/service bulletin for this?

There are two main harnesses.  One (part 22 on 'cover' page) connects to the main CPU board and travels back and up to the upper rear corner terminating in a large plug.  The second (part 40 on the 'unit' parts page) connects to that plug disperses those signals to the various components on the back of the rear 'cover' (the cover has the fans, door switches, etc.)

I'm guessing you mean the first harness (part 22 on 'cover' page?  Any clarity will be greatly appreciated.  Thx,

Disregard my prior post on the harnesses.  I have tested the two Thermistors.  While I don't have the spec sheets, the numbers at room temp and in ice water seem right.  I also tested the evap fans and they too look good.

Tomorrow, I'll test the Thermistor numbers though the wiring harnesses.  If the numbers look weird, I'll see if I can test the individual harnesses.

btw, I swapped out the main control board earlier this month.  It was a roll of the dice but was so easy to do, it was worth the risk.

Milisa, Here is the link to the manual I found.  Everything seems just like our unit except for the control panel (which, unfortunately, is quite different.)  https://applianceassistant.com/Appliance-Repair/Appliance-Service-Repair-Manual-Feature.php?id=1305

The manual includes the theory of operation for both the cooling and defrost cycles.  If you start up your fridge and expose the main circuit board, you can listen and watch (with the aid of a ohm meter) the unit go through the various cooling operations.  Note, the two fans will seldom come on at the same time.

To this point, I've ohm'ed out all of the wiring and it all appears good.  As mentioned, the refrigerator cycle is working just like the manual says. But I can't really test the defrost cycle without knowing how to initiate that.  I started another string focused on that but haven't gotten a helpful answer yet.  Focusing now on my  heater loop.  My research indicates that the loop should have full continuity but mine shows resistance and I've asked if that is suspect.

Just rigged up a 120v test for the heater loop.  It heats to between 150-190 degrees depending on where I point my heat sensor.  So, right now, every wire and component associated with defrosting has appeared to test out ok.

I'm back to trying to find out the button sequence to put the fridge into defrost test mode.  Anyone?

Did you find a resolution to this problem? I've got the same unit freezing items in the top drawer and not defrosting.
