Have a older washer, model number in subject line above.

Tub Seems to be sitting off center, when not in use and shakes/makes noise like a ride at the State Fair while spinning.

Any ideas??

Turns out part of the skate plate broke, and is no longer a triangle.  90% or so.

got a donor machine and going to try to harvest the skate plate off of it.

That is a unusual thing to happen, don’t think I have ever seen a bad plate. Hope you get it going

The friend of mine who sells used appliances at the flea market, who gave me a donor machine said the same thing.

Having said that, does the tub off of the donor machine have to be removed to get the viable skate plate??

Could some one walk me thru the process??

i have a bunch of tools and have done other repairs to the brand/type of washer (whirlpool/kenmore direct drive).

the only thing I don’t have is a spanner wrench to take off the tub nut.

Remove the wire harness connector from the motor and remove the motor wiring retainer from the transmission and remove the motor.

You don't have to remove the basket or outer tub,  remove all the suspension springs by removing each of the three spring brackets on the side of the tub, remove each spring and reinstall the bracket so the outer tub doesn't pull away from the centerpost.

With the motor off the transmission, the transmission will lift up thru the skate plate still all attached to the tub/basket assembly.
