Kitchenaid Gas Range Broiler Starts and the Goes Out

Jack L.

Recommended Posts

Help. I have a 12 yr old KitchenAid KGSS907SSS01 gas range. The bake burner works good, as do all of the 4 burners on the cook-top. The broiler starts ok and after a few seconds there is a click sound and the flame goes out.  A friend of mine and I took the range apart and used a multimeter to try to find a an obvious problem with no luck. The Thermostat appears to be ok.

Separately, the convection fan doesn't come on anymore (not that it was used much anyway).

You actually had your eyes on the flame or just saw a glow?

Yes, I directly saw the flames with the door closed.

It's a Direct Spark Ignition system.

If the module doesn't sense a flame, it will turn off gas the burner. The tip of the ignitor needs to be in the flame for the module to allow the burner to run.

Also, the range needs to be connected to a properly wired, grounded outlet.

Will just add the burner tube  has to be grounded to the chassis. Common for minor corrosion at mounting pionts to cause problems. Happens with the bake burner tube as well.

Terry Carmen, Thanks for the advise!  I checked the connections, detached and re-attached without any result. I purchased a new igniter and that didi the trick.  Thank you so much!
