GE Washer GFW650SPN0SN - Need personality code for control board

Hello, I need help with my GE Washer. I recently ordered & installed a new main board (WH22X30898) for this washer and the main board seems to be working. However, when you install a new main board in this washer, you need to input a personality code to tell the board what model it's in. My board did not come with the instruction sheet that, as far as I can tell, is supposed to be included to tell you what code goes with which model number. I've been searching high and low, all over the internet and calling GE service and just can't find this thing anywhere. Would anyone be able to help me find this code? I would be forever grateful. Thanks for reading.

Here is an example of the instruction sheet for a board that isn't mine: https://f01.justanswer.com/smitty1486/a932dc4f-7fd2-469f-9e84-912587639643_WH18X27754_Programming_Instructions.pdf

Hello, I have a similar issue.  I just replaced the main control board (Part # WH22X35517) on my GE Washer with part # GFW650SSN0WW.   It did not come with any instructions, but I was able to figure out the installation.  I powered on the unit, it showed the number "1" for awhile and then went to a normal screen.  The washer works, but it seems to be missing multiple cycles when I rotate the know.  I am wondering if I alos need to set the personality code, but I can't seem to find what the code should be anywhere.  Do you know what the peronsality code might be?  Would this possibly fix my issue?

Different model but same code 3:

  1. Press and release the Start button. LED’s will stop flashing and the display should show “0”.

  2. Press and release the Start button until the display shows the number of the personality ID needed.

When the end of the ID list is reached the control will wrap around to the beginning of the personality ID number list.

GFW650SPN0**

3

GFW650SSN0**

3

GFW850SPN0**

4

GFW850SSN0**

4

3. Press and hold the Start button for three seconds when the correct personality ID number needed is in the display.

This will save the personality ID number and the control will go to an idle state.

NOTE: If an error is made programming the Main Board or the LED’s are not flashing, enter Field Service Mode as shown on the last page of these instructions. Use service mode test 17 to enter the correct personality.

If it's the same exact model then the personality should be the same.

I have the GE Washer Model #GFW850SPNRS.  The control board (#WH22X36637) was replaced.  The washer works but the Power and Start/Pause lights no longer work and I can no longer access the Power Clean and Self Clean cycles.

When I hold down the Start/Pause button for 10 seconds, the lights flash (including the Power and Start/Pause lights) and then #38 and Door Lock flashes.

Please help.

Put knob at 12 o'clock position hold start while turning knob to 6 o'clock position and let go of the start button. Press start until you get to personality 6 then hold start to store it.

After you get into the menu turn the dial to get to test 17 after the knob rotation and letting go start. Forgot that part

Thank you everyone. This thread really helped me. I looked all over to find anyone with the issue of the cycles not matching up and I finally found this thread and was able to get it back to normal.

That model number isn't pulling up anything. Most likely you have a different issue. Unless they changed something a laundry center made by GE shouldn't have a personality code. At least 2 years ago when I worked on G.E. they didn't.

Thank you so much!! Diagnostic mode says it’s the lid lock (suddenly it wouldn’t open even though the cycle had been over for 10+ hours) we replaced that but it didn’t fix the problem and the manual said it maybe the circuit board. I wouldn’t go out and buy one ($$$$) because I thought I needed the personality code to program it, and wanted to find that info before paying for the part. Looks like I didn’t need to worry about any code at all! Thank so much for answering me. I kept googling, and finding, other model numbers and their personality code but I couldn’t find! I guess that’s why! I’m off to buy a circuit board. Thank you so much for your time and help.

Check your wiring to the lid lock and make sure they have continuity. Also if the middle of the top frame has been used to lift the washer in place it'll cause the lock to not work. Just gently push down on the middle top assuming this washer was moved recently. If this is an issue that just have after installed for awhile I'd concentrate on wiring first.

I pulled the trigger on buying the circuit board….and it worked! I did two loads of laundry!!!…before it stopped working and the lid lock light started blinking again, and it is now acting like it was, pre-“new board”.  My husband is going to borrow a tester to check the wire tomorrow from the board to the lid lock, I sure hope it works again…those two loads of laundry were wonderful! Thank you so much for all of your help and suggestions

That code says it's an intermittent wire connection with the lid lock. He should get a reading close to .1 from one end of the wire to the other unplugged. Tell him to make sure the connectors are tight. Take pictures of the lid open then close at different angles and of error that's showing up and upload if you can.
