Whirlpool Cabrio Washer (WTW7600XW2) Shaft won't come out

Recommended Posts

Followed process for shaft and bearing replacement including removing dispenser ring, wash plate, inner wash basket, outer motor housing, stator and shaft nut. Attempted to hammer shaft out from the bottom with no luck. Shaft will not budge from the lower or upper bearings. I could not find any online help for this particular problem. Anyone have suggestion(s)? Is there a special tool for this situation? HELP!!

I interpret this as your underneath the washer and trying to hammer the shaft up? Should be hammering from inside the tub "down" and out. If the shaft is corroded clean it off completely and use penetrating oil. If the shaft has been hammered down a bit, hammer it up so you can clean all the way to the bearing to remove any ridge of corrosion.

I don’t believe you can pound it down through. There is a silver lip on shaft allowing it to only come out from pounding on bottom.

Are you using a 5 pound mallet? Sometimes you really have to whack it if seal is still glued in tight.

Here’s a good photo showing silver collar with lip allowing shaft to only come out from bottom.
