Pulling a side-by-side refrigerator from a very tight spot -

Recommended Posts

I replaced my ancient Pergo under my fridge with Pergo Extreme "luxury vinyl" that has no wood to get damaged, as the old stuff had. The fridge has almost no clearance on either side, very hard to get refrigerator out, a newer GE side by side model. I was trying to find a puller that had an L shaped end piece that I could slip in from above and "pull" the fridge out.  If I pull the fridge out towards the top, it of course wants to tip.  I tried buying the plastic fridge-puller wheels, and they weren't that helpful.  The tool to raise the fridge had a lip not long enough to really reach under the fridge.

I saw T-post pullers that were kind of like what I was looking for, but not sure they would work. I have bought a fabric harness like 2 people would use to move an appliance, but not sure I can make that work.

Thoughts on where I could get a tool like this to make it simple to pull this fridge out of a tight spot?

Did you lower legs so it’s sitting on its own wheels?

Get some carpet shield  a plastic roll  like  wrapping paper in the carpet department at HD or Lowe's. Put over the flooring. It is pretty thick. Or, get  flexible cutting mat's used to cut meat on the counter top's.  They are smooth and tough  Tape them to the floor using a good masking tape.  You should be able to slide it out carefully without scratching the floor.

You should be able to sit on the floor take off the bottom front grill, and grab the crosspiece in front across the bottom and roll it out.

If this doesn't work, carefully look under it with a flashlight and make sure it's actually resting on the wheels and not the cabinet or legs.

Also make sure whoever put the floor down ran it under the refrigerator. If it just runs in front and there's no clearance, it may not be possible to remove without disassembling a cabinet or pulling the floor back up.
