LG Refrigerator Model FX25978SB /00 not cooling

Looking for help on troubleshooting an LG Refrigerator that stopped cooling.  My suspicion is the compressor but would like a flow chart or steps to rule out any other possible causes.  Thanks.

I'm assuming the model number is LFX25978SB, right?

What is the compressor and fans are doing? If all are running but not cooling, most likely the compressor is inefficient (bad). And that's a typical failure of these LG Linear compressors.

You can run diagnostics from a single button on the Mainboard.

Unplug and plug it back in. First press - all fans and compressor should run. Second press - the damper door closes and only freezer is cooling. Third press - everything stops, and defrost begins. Forth press - back to normal mode.

Sometimes an LED bulb on the board may flash an error code. Check how many blinks.

Sorry this took a while but the test runs and then flashes the led 6 times.  I believe that indicates compressor issue.  This is a 2013 model LFX25978SB.  Any idea if this would fall under the LG 10 year warranty?  Also, any experience in how to go about filing a claim with LG?  Thanks.

If you have a purchasing receipt, call LG directly, and they will transfer you to an authorized warranty company. The compressor should be covered under the 10-year warranty, but you'll have to pay for the labor about ~$400. Or they'll offer you to buy an insurance for the same amount to cover the labor cost.

That's interesting!

They're OK selling an insurance policy then letting you use it immediately?

I think they do it just to collect the labor cost upfront. And I believe that insurance policy is strictly for the compressor replacement under the 10-year LG warranty.

Don't have a purchasing receipt as it came with the house when it was purchased.  Do you know if this will be a problem? Thanks.

Most likely it's going to be a problem, but you can call LG and ask... it's free!

Maybe . . .

I believe they're required to start the warranty clock when the house was purchased, not when the appliance was purchased; however it might take some work to convince them of this.
