GTW220ACK6WW GE top load - motor and/or cap?

Recommended Posts

I'm not as familiar with these new GE's... I was out there this week and the unit was shifting and motor was humming but no movement (belt good). The cap read 0 mF (rated 60) but the motor windings were also a bit high. I dont have the tech sheet in front of me, but going off of memory every winding I tested was over spec. I believe spec is 4.5-5.6. I was reading a hair over 8. Do you think bad motor took out cap as well?

Thanks!

Jared

Replaced the cap and all was good (didn't se any flashing on inverter 16345Ed). Although I guess time will tell if it wasn't a motor on the brink taking out the cap--but no call back as of a week or so later. I've actually had another old GE w/ bad cap w/ NO motor funct. No call backs on that after a month. You can go years and not see bad caps on washers then when it rains it pours lol. Thanks for your help fellas!
