GE Front Load washer model WCVH6800J2MS Shakes violently in spin cycle

I have seen this before and improperly thought it was the shock absorbers.  They do not fix the issue.  When the tub is spinning it looks off center.  The front boot is a bit twisted, even though a new one was installed a couple of months ago.  I have done some reading on this.  Is it the tub bearings?  I know if they are worn out it is very noisy, is it also the cause of violent shaking?  If not the bearings, what re the other causes of this.  I have read the spider can be cracked, but I cannot find a spider on the parts diagram for this model. Any help appreciated.

Hello. More than likely time for a new washer. I have done this job a few times and you would likely be looking at bearings at least. If shaking is very bad then spider cracked, which shot the bearings. Bearings are built in rear outer tub, spider is usually sold as one piece with spin basket. I have seen further damage than just these two components. Parts likely about same price as new front loader. Samurai has a great video on YT showing how to troubleshoot the bad spider.

Thank you for the reply.  I have watched several Yellowvanhandyman videos which detail the repair.  You can see on youtube.  Yes, very involved, but I could do it.  As far as the spider, is there a link for the video you mentioned? and I cannot identify the spider on this machine, part number???  Thanks for your help.

On some brands/most the spider is part of the spin basket and not available separate from the basket, (as is yours).

The basket and spider assembly would cost you between $500-$700 ($497 on the one site I looked up on, $441 @ Sears and $633 @ Appliance Parts Pro below).  Also a very high probability of a very high shipping cost because of the size.

This is the part:
