Liebherr fridge start relay wiring conundrum

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello,

This is my first post on this forum.

I have a Liebherr fridge that started smelling...

After a quick inspection, I found the start relay assembly with evidence of burns. I ordered a replacement, but the markings that I had made on the wires are gone. I cannot find a schematic anywhere...

Would anyone know how to wire it or how to figure out which wire is which, or perhaps know how to find the schematics?

  • There are four wires green/yellow - obviously the ground. Blue, obviously the neutral. Black. Gray.
  • There are five possible places on the relay assy: Ground symbol, L (must be 'Line'), N (must be 'Neutral'), S (??).
  • It looks like the 'S' was never connected on the old assy (no scratch marks).
  • Wiring it with the black on 'L' and the grey on the 5th connector, I get no-joy: the fridge lights up, shows the temperature, but no compressor.
  • The relay has a code ZXF4. I ordered the same, but a ZXFF arrived. Does anyone know what the difference is? Could this cause an issue?

Thank you.

Cheers,
Mark
