Samsung Dishwasher Inlet Valve Issue

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have a model DW80K5050US Samsung dishwasher that is about 3 years old.

The dishwasher no longer fills with water so I made sure my water supply was fine and then looked at the inlet valve. I checked the valve for continuity and it does not have continuity per my multimeter. I tested the dishwasher's "open the valve" signal and my multimeter reads 120V at the valve plug-in when I run a rinse cycle which is good. So I bought a replacement valve (same model rated for 120V).

I installed it and it also doesn't work. I'm kicking myself for not checking continuity before installing and testing the new valve. After I tested the valve with the signal, it did not have continuity either.

Possible theories:

1. The dishwasher is sending a shock the solenoid doesn't like that my multimeter can't pick up. This would mean I broke the new solenoid.

2. I was sent a broken valve for the replacement.

I'm deciding between trying a 3rd valve or ordering a different brand washer on black friday. Any thoughts?

Don’t buy another valve. Machine needs diagnostics run errors checked and then some testing to determine problem.

If you don’t know how to do that I suggest hiring a technician.
