bna12122 Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 this is a basic Viking Range, 6 burners with a griddle and glow coil ignition in the oven. Whats going on with it? There is nothing in regard to a service manual for this unit.
No excuses Posted October 23, 2021 Author Posted October 23, 2021 Initially the large oven burners were lighting but not maintaining enough flame. The ignitors had low current, I can't remember the values but they were close to 3.2 ohms. Both were doing it so I replaced the gas valve. At that point there is no change in performance so I replaced the ignitors. Resistance on old ignitors was too high. Now the igniters won't even glow. Not getting voltage at igniters. 1
bna12122 Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Sounds like the ignition circuit is miswired. Lets do this, there are 2 red wires coming out of the lower right corner of the side panel. Those wires go direct to the igniters, one to each igniter, the other igniter wire goes to for the right ignition wire goes to the white wire coming off the back of the safety valve and the left side igniter plugs right into the safety valve. If the safety valve is open, the igniters won't glow. If there is no power present at all there is a wiring diagram on the rear of the unit. The only other thing that would cause an issue is the thermostat, there is nothing else in the circuit. Please let me know if you have any questions. 1
No excuses Posted November 2, 2021 Author Posted November 2, 2021 I had wondered if the valve could be reversed in polarity. Since it is AC I didn't think it would matter in this case.

No excuses Posted November 9, 2021 Author Posted November 9, 2021 Thanks bna12122 that sketch was just what I needed. I had one of the connections wrong.
Larry From WV Posted November 11, 2021 Posted November 11, 2021 Need to look at the burners tubes on the vikings prone to burning holes in the side by ignitor
