Maytag Dishwasher Float/Overflow Protection Switch

Recommended Posts

The float moves up and down freely but I don't hear a click unless I press the float all the way down at which point it sort of clicks into place and makes a click sound.  If I pull the float up and let go, it doesn't fall down far enough to "click" into place, it needs the small amount of hand pressure to get there.  The dishwasher doesn't fill unless I push the float all the way down and feel it click.  I don't know if this is the float's normal position because I never messed with it until it stopped filling the other day.  Is this normal or do I need a switch or possibly an entire float assembly replacement?
