Pressure Regulators Interchangeable?

Recommended Posts

Are range pressure regulators interchangeable as long as the pipe size going in and out is the same and the outgoing pressure is the same and it works with NG or LP gas?

Posted (edited)

The regulators are rated for input pressure and output pressure and volume (usually listed as CFM, but sometimes in BTU/hour), and come with specific input and output fittings.

If it has the correct fittings and mounting holes or brackets and the right pressure ratings, and is designed for the correct gas, it should be fine.

This is one time you absolutely don't want to start looking for Chinese clones. Make sure it's from a recognized manufacturer and legitimate distributor and that the regulator has UL and/or CSA certification stickers.

To be honest, unless you're 200% sure of what you're substituting, I'd recommend sticking to the OEM part just so nobody can point a finger at you if something bad happens.
