KitchenAid Dishwasher Model # KDTM354DSS4 - will not wash

Recommended Posts

My KitchenAid dishwasher is about 5.5 years old and will not wash.  I found the technical sheet behind the kick panel and followed the directions for the Service Diagnostics Cycle.  It looks like I have error codes 61, 71, and 81 which does not make a lot of sense to me.  I would be interested in any thoughts on this issue.

Thanks,

Wilke

Try adjusting the striker plate on the door latch. The door may not be fully engaged so the cycle won't start.

Thank you for your reply.

I found the problem I believe.  After taking apart the pump, I can see that the Dishwasher Pump Filter is all messed up and preventing the motor from turning.  I ordered one today and hope to receive it by Th or Fri this week.  Will update the board once I install the part.

Here it is Saturday evening and I now have a working dishwasher!  I received the Pump Filter part # W11084156 on Friday evening. It was easy to install following the video on RepairClinic.com

One word of caution for amateurs like myself - Do not hesitate to tighten down the screw-on hose clamps.  I thought I had tightened mine down good.  I noticed a slight leak when I ran the diagnostics again and had to pull the dishwasher back out to retighten the hose clamp screw another 1/4 turn.  Life is good now - dishwasher cleaning dishes and no dishwasher lying on its back in the middle of the kitchen floor.
