I need to replace the 8" element on a model jp989kd4cc, serial dg700635c.  This is a smooth top, downdraft unit.  I had the bottom right panel off to check the element.  Can I replace the element from the bottom or is there an easier way? Thank you for your help.

Cut power, pull the knobs off and go around the perimeter of the glass top with a putty knife to break the foam tape adhesion. Carefully, while praying to pot-bellied, buck-toothed, cross-eyed, hare-lipped Buddha, lift up on the glass top-- easy as you go, it'll come off. You'll then have a straight shot at the element to be changed.

Thank you, it came off just like you said.
