Whirlpool electric range heating extremely slow

Recommended Posts

Hi there.  I have a Whirlpool electric range and the door seemed to have a gap where is closes so I bought 2 new hinges and replaced it.  Didn’t completely solve the problem but I set my temp to 425 and bake and it seems to go up by 5 degrees every few minutes.  If I hold my hand by the “gap” there isn’t any heat being lost there so I don’t think it’s that.

if I set the broil function on, it seems to work fine.

The stove elements work fine.

Any ideas?

thanks.

Ranges typically preheat by alternating the bake and broil elements.  It sounds like the bake element or the relay on the control board is not working.

Use a flashlight and look at the bake element to see if there is any visible damage.  It can be intact, but still be bad, but it might give you piece of mind for how much to expect on a repair.

I suggest calling for service.
