Gas Range working stove not

Recommended Posts

I just connected a used KitchenAid YKGRT507 and the range elements themselves light up without difficulty, but the oven bake and broil elements won't light up. There is a glow from what I take to be the lighting source for both the bake and broil areas, and they alone seem to warm up the oven, but I don't hear any gas moving or see any flames. The previous owner is a good friend and says that everything worked when they had it and wondered if something happened during disconnect, reconnect, or transport.

On connecting the stove there was bleed valve left open at the back near the gas hookup, which I then closed to complete the install. Is that related to the oven part not working?

Thanks for any help you may have.

Ben

Most likely bad (weak) ignitors.

Once ignitors get weak they still glow but their resistance gets so high the amperage In circuit drops so low the safety valve won’t open.

This is the most likely reason for the oven to be not working - that little flip lever that you closed is not a bleed valve, it is a shut off valve on the regulator to shut gas to the oven off.

Looked up your gas valve and regulator assembly and that will be your problem.  Here's a picture showing the lever you closed which shutoff the gas to the oven.

Any idea why they spend extra money to do that?

I've never had a need to turn off gas to just the oven.

@Terry Carmen No idea at all what the point of having an oven shutoff valve on the newer regulators is......
