Whirlpool Dishwasher Drains and Fills Multiple Times

Recommended Posts

Our Whirlpool dishwasher will fill and drain, then fill and drain, before advancing through the cycle.  No other real symptoms.  Dishes are clean.  Water is hot as you can see steam.  No diagnostics lights are on.

I have check the float and it is working properly.   I believe the main circuit board was replaced several years ago.

This model DUL200PKS1.   Would rather repair based on a high probability diagnosis, than replace the unit, even though it has considerable age.   THank you!

Just a brief search shows many of the critical parts for this model  number are no longer available.  What you are describing could  be the control board. You might try resetting the machine.  Unplug for 30 minutes  then plug back in.

If the tech sheet is still with your dishwasher try running the diagnostic cycle.

Thank you both for the good suggestions.  I have run the diagnostics and unfortunately it is not identifying a fault.   Really stumped on this one!   Nearly resigned to purchasing a new dishwasher which is unfortunate.  Dont’ like wasting hot water and time they way it is currently working.  Much appreciated.

Just tried the unplug for 30 minutes to reset the control board.  Unfortunately, still seeing the ‘extra’ fill and drain at the start of the cycle.   Very close to throwing in the towel and purchasing a new unit.
