Old waffle cone iron repair

Hello! 

 

I bought an old waffle cone iron off of the marketplace, was super excited to try it out. Got home plugged it in and noticed only the top portion heated up. Took it apart and found three wires that have burned/corroded off. I can assume where two of the wires go but have no idea where the third one should go. Any help would be appreciated. I've attached photos of the bottom half of the unit with a picture of the wiring (sorry for the crude crayon drawing). The company (Wheatland machine co, Kansas City) no longer appears to be in business.

Can you share images of the top wiring, that may help decipher the bottom. Honestly, from the pictures, I don't have a guess at this point.
