Bosh Dishwasher does not start second cycle

Bosch dishwasher SHX3AR75UC

works fine when first powered on. Cycle can be selected, everything is fine. 
after cycle completes successfully (“clean “ light, dishes dried and clean), when selecting new program/starting new cycle, new cycle does not start (“clean” light lights up after door is closed/opened and no noise/nothing gets actuated).

the “fix” is to press power and re-power it. Replaced the door control board thinking this was something wrong with it but no dice.

any idea what I’m overlooking? (No digital display on it, so no error code to look at)

The actual fix for my issue was a new drain pump. 
 

Symptoms further developed:

   - stuttering during the wash cycle (whenever it is supposed to drain)

   - some water left after the cycle finished at the bottom of the tank (and dishes not fully dried)
