Whirlpool Refrigerator WRF767SDHZ00 Water Dispenser Slow

Recommended Posts

I had some plumbing work done in the house recently.  Afterward I cleaned sediment from all aerators in the house but did not think to check the fridge.  The water dispenser got really slow as is the flow into the upper ice maker.  It is making ice but I can tell from the sound when it refills that the flow is slower than the lower ice maker.

I'm thinking inlet valve but this unit apparently has two - which makes sense that one sound diff than the other.

Is there any comment about which one and how to get to it to replace?   The diagrams I find are not all that helpful.  Also, is it possible to pull the valve and backflow to clear?

On back of refrigerator you will see water line going into back. Remove back cover. You should see this valve.

This should be the one since it’s first in line. Also don’t forget to change your filter.

You're the man.  The valve swap was uneventful other than my not breaking anything.  The fridge side line was difficult to remove from the old valve.  Hmmm.  I flushed the supply line before reconnecting and got a container filled with black water.

If fills at 2x speed now.

Thanks again!
