Electric Smooth-top Burner Connection

Ring died on an older Kenmore Smoot-top electric range - 790.9621340A

Purchased a replacement ring (Supplying Demand WB30X24111) where everything matches up as expected EXCEPT the last wire grip (not sure proper term.)  The original wire post is more narrow than the replacement (and only for this one connection which is odd.) This is one pf those seemingly easy repairs that never ends.

What would you do?

Current theory is to purchase a wider gripper that fits the post. Cut off the old gripper, apply the new gripper. One risk is wire being too short after the change - they give just enough wire to reach the connection, no extra  Also unsure if there is a special type of metal connector given this is for a range, or will any that look right so long as it properly fits the post?

Update: ordered a different replacement for the element part no: 316135401, which appears closer. Same post was still little too wide, however managed to get the wire on the post. Turn on the power, turn on the dial…and while the Element light on the right control area lights, nothing happens to the ring. Nothing heating up.

Thought the switch itself was fine since everything seems to operate as expected. However after replacing the element i am thinking now it might be the switch?

Update: replaced both coil and switch..still nothing for the one burner.

Observations.

- When dial is on, light above dial is not on, however Element On light is lit.

I would buy the actual OEM parts to ensure proper fit and functionality. Buying this stuff off of Amazon can end up costing you a lot more than the potential upfront savings in the long run.

I second sending it back and getting the OEM parts (both the switch and the element at this point).

The OEM parts should come with instructions if any wiring changes are necessary.

The element is an updated version, you need to look at the writing on the ceramic to get the right terminal. In your picture you are comparing terminal 1a to 2b. The new element has the terminal in different locations. If I remember correctly one of the wire will be almost too short to make a propper connection. Wiring diagram on the range has the colors of the wires and to which terminal they hook up too for each element.
