Whirlpool dryer WED5300VW0 timer 8566184A should the timer make a ticking noise?

The dryer won’t start. I have tested the thermal fuse, start button, door switch-all have continuity. The dryer has power. The one thing I have noticed is the timer doesn’t tick when set to a drying cycle. Could the timer be bad?

Could be the timer. Check for a voltage drop from L1 to the motor contact. If it's open the timer is bad. The ticking is probably irrelevant. It could also be the motor or belt switch (if it has one)

This dryer uses a relay for the push to start switch. Should be a click noise of the relay when the button is pushed and a click when the door is opened.
