This is my daughter’s washer,

Apparently the washer has been off balance and now the drum is banging around especially during the spin cycle. It’s very loud and there is a strong mechanical smell. The washer is 51 years old.

So I’m wondering if this is a DIY project or should i call a professional? The washer is about appreciate any guidance you can give me.
