Samsung gas oven upper chamber will not maintain temperature

Recommended Posts

I have a Samsung gas dual oven Model: NX58M6850SS/AA. The upper chamber preheats fine but will not stay heated. For example, I preheat to 400, then after 15 minutes it's down to 325. The igniter glows for about 10 seconds then goes out without a light off. It repeats this cycle as the temperature goes down. If I turn it off, then turn on the broiler, it flames up right away. That indicates the igniter and safety valve are working correctly from what I've read already. I have replaced the upper chamber temperature sensor and the control board but the problem persists.

Thanks,
Tom

Check the Amp draw of the ignitor.  It should be at least 3.3 amps. If not change the ignitor.

+1 for amperage draw, it is probably marginal. Samsung seem to be sensitive to igniters getting weak.

Check the voltage across the ignitor to see if it's still powered up when it goes out.

They sometimes develop cracks that only open up when hot.
