Hi appliance pros. I have a Whirlpool refrigerator that I have replaced the icemaker on because it was not making ice. After I installed the new ice maker, it produced one batch of ice then stopped working again along with the water dispenser. I had a technician come out and take a look at it and he decided the issue was within my secondary water inlet valve. Right before he left, he randomly decided to test the water dispenser one last time and it was working all of a sudden. He said, the only thing that changed was the temp of the refrigerator because of the doors being open while he was conducting his inspections. He does not know what could cause this but maybe you guys do.

Thanks for you help in advance!

When depressing the water dispenser paddle do you hear an electrical buzzing or humming sound? If the ice maker is cycled for a harvest cycle does the ice maker finish the cycle from start to finish? At the end of the harvest does water enter the ice maker mold?

There is an electrical buzzing sound when depressing the dispenser paddle. The icemaker seems to go through with the full cycle. At the end of the cycle, it sounds like it is supposed to be filling with water but doesn't. I have noticed that there is a small heater coil at the part of the icemaker box where the water line enters the icemaker.

If you can’t get water through the water dispenser and to the ice maker you may need to check your water valve, water tank, and filter. If you can get water to the dispenser and not the ice maker then it could be the water valve or the fill tube heater as the fill tube could have ice in it. You would also need to make sure during the harvest cycle the water valve gets 120vac. There isn’t a clear cut answer here to tell you what to buy.  Real troubleshooting needs to take place in order to find the problem. Its likely one of the components mentioned above.
