I took off the kick plate and removed dog hair galore cleaned the coils and removed bottom back panel cleaned akll that and verified fan and compressor was running it started freezing for a day then stopped. I took it to the shed and plugged it in then it frozen a cup of water but then it started to melt about 3 days later. I removed the fridge evaporator panel and found the coils frozen over so I ran the diagnostic codes and everything was good except for the freezer evaporator motor would not come on. I ordered and replaced it put it back together let it run for a day never cooled the fridge or freezer now. I had read that the defrost heater could cause this issue and so when in diagnostic I set those to minimum turn on time prior to getting the freezer fan installed which works turns. the fridge coil is still trying to freeze up but not like it was before. Is it possible I messed something up when playing with the defrost heater settings? Can I unplug the defrost heater and attempt to run it without more damage. Is there a way to reset all those settings back to factory default? could my thermostat be bad that came with the new evap motor? I feel I am over looking something easy because it is worse now after replacing the faulty freezer evap fan. Thank you for your help in advance.

Yes you are over-thinking the issue. If your evaporator coils is freezing up or icing over. Then your defrost heater, thermistor, bimetal or control is faulty. You would need to test the defrost circuit. I suggest you go back into the service mode and set the defrost time back to what is was. If its not working at all changing defrost settings won’t matter. If you had a faulty fan but now have a good fan allowing the unit to circulate and drawn in more warm air then yes you will have more ice then before.
