MGD5630HW1 Maytag Gas Dryer - Has no heat

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi -- My less than 2-year old Maytag gas dryer has no heat. We cleaned the lint in the exhaust hose (just in case) ...  it turns on, says "sensing," but has no heat at all. At one point when I turned it on and was waiting to see if it heated up, it stopped and the door opened on its own. I tried unplugging it to reset it, but that did not work.

I don't have an extended warranty, and am thinking it might not be that difficult, but am wondering where to start, what might be the most likely issue, and how to troubleshoot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Philip

Thanks for the link! Well, I'm glad you got a chuckle out of my not knowing what I don't know! So far in my limited experience of diving in and trying to fix things, it seems like it is usually a bit less complicated getting to the source of the problem. But after getting just a couple minutes into the video you provided, I see there are indeed a good number of potential problems. I'll get to it ...

Clothes dryers are pretty simple machines, or at least they were until they started adding computers into them which don't actually do anything.

It might not be that difficult.  It may be something as simple as gas valve coils.  You'll see all that if you follow the links in the yellow chart I linked above.
