Maytag cooktop model MGT8885XS00

I have a problem with this cooktop. I need to replace gas valves. A couple of the screws holding down the burners) are so rusted they will not turn and just strip. I know I can knock off the screw heads with a chisel, but what then? The threads are stuck inside the burner, and I don't know if I can even lift the cooktop. This must be common. Any suggestions?
