LG LP1215gxr AC shuts off before compressor kicks in

Hi all,

 

Thanks in advance for any & all repair.  This AC will power on, and in fan-only mode runs with no problem.  But in "Cool" mode, it runs for a couple or a few minutes before it briefly powers off, then comes right back on, repeat, repeat.  I've cleaned the filter, the exhaust duct is clean & unblocked.  There appears to be little dust I can see looking from the vent cage on the back.

 

But the compressor never seems to come on.  I suspect the AC is powering down just as this is supposed to happen, perhaps a a safety measure?  Again, no sound whatsoever before it shuts off.  Fan is blowing, then it stops & there is then 4 chimes (low to high pitch).  And right after it comes right back on...rinse & repeat.

 

Any thought or ideas?  Steps I can take to troubleshoot?
