Samsung fridge (RB1855SW) freezer issue

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello

I am having an issue where the compressor and fan for the freezer portion keeps kicking on every 20-30min and running for that amount of time as well.

The temp for the fridge and freezer are correct.

No water pooling

The fridge is showing no error codes. The door gasket is good. I cleaned the condensor coil.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Check for error codes by pushing quick freeze and quick cool at the same time for 8 second then there should be a ding dong sound if successfully entered. The display will show error codes the reboot back to normal operation.

The run time from your post is 50% which should be ok, especially since the temps are good. How long does the refrig fan run?

Hi Vance

There are no error codes.

The fridge fan doesn't run that often whenever the compressor kicks on most of the time the freezer fan kicks on only sometimes the fridge fan will but not often and if it does the fridge fan is only on for a short time. For example if both fans kick on the fridge will be for 5 mins and the rest of the time will be the freezer fan. I'll have the fridge door open to get something out and shortly after the the compressor and freezer fan will turn on yet I didn't have the freezer open.

I change the temp sensor that is attached to the freezer evaporator - there was a little bit of ice on it but not much at all.

Do you happen to know what the temp sensor DA32-10105S - located in the freezer light housing does (when I look at parts diagram it's listed with the ice maker)? Is this the ambient temp sensor for the freezer?

I just might be over thinking the frequency of the freezer operating but I don't recall hearing the compressor turn on so frequently.

Probably to prevent the light housing from high heat of the lights being on too long.
