Whirlpool WRF989SDAE00 not making ice

Recommended Posts

Posted

This started while we were away for two weeks. Daughter was home noticed it.  By the time we got back, it had corrected itself and was making ice slowly. Slower than before.

Also, days after our return, there was water covering the bottom of the cooler compartment, under that large drawer. Melted ice???

Now, once again, no ice is being made.
Ice bin feels cold.  Water dispenser flows freely and cold.  And, yes, the ice maker switch is “on”.

Also, a food thermometer placed insude the ice bin reads 30 degrees F.  In the past 2 hours it’s produced 2 ice cubes.

After two days with no ice, I have a half bin full this morning. I can’t figure out this intermittent problem.

Anyone out there with ideas?

30 degrees

This is the problem. Freezer or Ice Room should be 0 degrees.

You need to determine why it’s not cooling properly.

Bottom freezer is fine. Only the ice storage bin is at 30f.  How do I determine if the fan is pulling cold air up to it?

Bottom freezer drawer is consistently at 0 degrees F.
