Kenmore Washer leak, model 110.2629293

Have a Kenmore direct-drive washer-made by Whirlpool, if I had to guess.  (model # 110.2629293).  Have a leak from the bottom of the washer.  In the middle.  Just developed in the last week.  Since my W/D connections are in my garage, with a cement floor, I tested by dumping a gallon or so of water into the tub, WITHOUT THE WASHER IN OPERATION.  I figured this would eliminate leaks from the water inlet, the pump hoses, the water level gauge, etc.-because the 1 gallon dumped in by hand, would not be high enough to reach those potential leak areas (someone please correct me if this is faulty logic).   If I dump water in manually, and STILL  have the same leak, what does that leave??  I’m thinking a crack in the very bottom of the plastic tub or at the tub seal.  Thoughts???

Most likely cracked pump or hole in a drain hose. Remove cabinet cover and observe it when you put water in.

Any water poured into the tub will go down the tub outlet hose, into pump, and some into the drain hose where it attaches to the pump.

Maybe shaft seal or spin tube seal.  You will need to remove the cabinet, agitator, and inner basket.  You'll see the tub seal at the bottom of the outer tub.  Fill it with water to cover that seal and wait 20 minutes.  If it is not leaking, fill it above the lower spin tube seal.  Repeat the 20 minute wait and check for leaks.  If no leak is present, fill it above the transmission shaft seal and repeat the wait/inspection.

If it has been leaking for very long, it is possible the bearings are bad in the tub support tube and the spin tube is scored.

This was it!!! Thank you.

It was leaking from the center of the pump.  Put in a different pump (I had one lying around from previous problems) and that fixed it.

Many, many thanks!!!

I do not know how to mark this as the solution, but would be happy to do so if I can figure it out.
