We either hav a ghost in the store or a problem with a Frigidaire SxS Refrig. Model #

FRS6LR5EB3 We have caught the water dispenser working all by itself...pouring out water for aprox 5 seconds or so with no one within 20 feet of it. Anyone have any ideas?

Initial thought.....wiring or tubing for icemaker crossed with the dispenser? No circuit board for the dispenser on this one, so might be a problem with the microswitch inside the dispenser. Also possible low mains water pressure not letting the valve close properly.

Thanks....based on your advice we wandered out into our graveyard and found the exact

Refrig. Changed out the whole freezer door.  We will know tomorrow if problem is fixed.

If after changing the door your still have the problem, (I think you will), then trying shutting off the icemaker and see if it solves your problem.

Are you sure the amount of time the water comes out of the dispenser on it's own isn't more like 7-9seconds?

If so, I would be looking at bad diodes in the ice/water valve wiring harness.

We did get some insight from a frigidaire earranty guy who said we needed to put in a resistor kit.  Anyone know how to go about? finding such a thing.  Thanks Tom

Are you sure he didn't say/mean "diode kit"? I've never heard of a resistor kit for a refrigerator.

Diode kit, RepairClinic.com item number 1015421, $7.60. Order through the link at the top of the page. This will cause exactly what you describe (water dispenser working at the same time as the I/M fills up)
