This top loader has had balance trouble for several years. In the past, it would spin out no matter how imbalanced it was. It walked across the concrete floor once, pulling the hose behind it and pumped 5 gallons out on the floor. But, keeping and eye on it and using the "bulky items" cycle meant it worked okay. Then it wouldn't do a final spin. Using the drain and spin cycle worked to make it spin out.

Now, it won't even do a final spin at all. Time to do something about it. (If my wife was doing the laundry, it would have been a long time ago.)

I had this sort of thing happen before on an old pre-electronic whirlpool, so I changed the rods, knowing that they may look fine, but be worn out. No help.

Looking in the mini-manual, errors say OOB and spin problem. I tried making it spin manually using the field test and it spun fine empty. In fact, this morning after it errored out, I put it in manual spin with a light load in it and it was not out of balance and it spun out the clothes fine.

The mini-manual says I should be looking at the speed sensor or the balance ring.  Speed sensor seems to know the diff between no, middle and high. Balance ring sloshes around.

I cant find any reference to a part number for a balance ring. I don't really have good parts diagrams, just the ones online and they only list the parts they have for sale.

I don't know how to test these things, so I'm kind of stumped.
