GE GDT655SSJ2SS Dishwasher - question re Junction box wiring

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Very much a newbie here.. I have a GE GDT655SSJ2SS Dishwasher which recently stopped working. I used some googling and a multimeter to determine that the control board seems to be the issue and have bought a replacement but not installed yet. One thing I noticed in the process of getting to the control board is the junction box I removed the cover from has this green wire (grounding wire from my understanding) not connected to anything. Please advise.

The incoming set of wires should have a bare copper wire for ground. That is where the green wire should be attached. From the looks of your picture the dishwasher is not grounded.

@Vance Ris right. It doesn't look like it's grounded.

The hole where you see the black and white wires with the orange insert should have a bare copper wire that gets connected to the green wire you mentioned, and is connected to ground, back in your circuit breaker panel.

You should get that fixed before putting everything back together. You definitely don't want wet metal that you touch everyday that could become unexpectedly live.
