Kenmore 106.55606400, ice maker w10190934 - no ice

Saw the great video here which directed me to this site.

Even after the replacement ice maker is in and hooked up, the T-H jumper does not rotate.

When the Ice maker is out and disconnected, I put a volt meter on the plug hanging out of the side of the freezer.  It showed ~56volts.  When hooked up, The new ice maker showed same 56 volts on N-L.  The old ice maker showed 1 volt N-L (strange).

On the YouTube video noted above, I saw a comment about “junk voltage”, but I didn’t see how to track that down.  I’m hoping this doesn’t require a sawzall to the side of the freezer to trace the wiring :)

Thanks for any help

This has the ice bin mount on the freezer door, the ice maker is mounted sideway near the front top of the freezer compartment. There is are transmitter and receiver board that control power to the ice maker. Use this procedure to test the ice maker:

Unplug refrigerator for 60 seconds.

1. While unplugged, bypass the icemaker thermostat by inserting an insulated jumper between H and T on the icemaker module.

2. With ice bucket in place, close freezer door.

3. After 60 seconds, plug in the refrigerator.

4. Wait 2 minutes with freezer door closed.

5. Open freezer door. (remove jumper before fingers reach the 10:00 o'clock position to avoid overheating the mold)

6. Hold or tape door switch closed. The status LED should continue flashing approximately once per second indicating the optics has completed the circuit to the icemaker.

* *Be prepared to collect water during the fill period of the icemaker rotation

Thank you for the instructions.

I tried with my old ice maker and it didn’t seem to work well. The tines rotated (good news), but no water :(  I even e

waited a while after the 2 mins with door open and flap tapped shut.

I tried with the new ice maker and I didn’t think it worked, but right when I was about to give up water came out into my glass!   I installed the new ice maker, and will watch it overnight to see if it works.

i did notice that the new ice maker is quite light.  The orig ice maker has a heat sink around the tray - quite nice and heavy.  The new ice maker, supposedly OEM, not as heavy and no large heat sink.

Thanks a ton - will report back tomorrow!

@Vance R I have no idea how, but those steps got the new ice maker working!!  A bunch of ice created overnight and today!

So awesome - thank you so much!

We are feeling so relieved the ice maker is working we are going to leave well enough alone and keep the cheap non-OEM ice maker in.  We will swap it out if/when it breaks down.

Until then, we have ice for the holidays!

Thank you!
