Samsung refrigerator issues

Recommended Posts

Hi, i have a Samsung rfg298aabp . My bottom ice maker is not dropping ice. When i press the ice maker reset it fills but does not drop. I bought a new one and still same problem. I recently noticed my freezer is not at correct temp. My ice cream is soft. When i do a hard reset on the fridge it shows 88 88, but then goes away.
What part might i need? Any other tests i can perform to help me diagnose the issue?

Basic stuff first, frost or ice on back wall of freezer? DC voltages from main board at  CN90 pin 3 to pin 4 and CN 30 pin 3 to CN76 pin 1.  Check for error codes, this style Samsung uses flashing segments of the digits. Be ready as they display quick.

Direction for self diagnostics:

* Press both buttons (Energy Saver– Alarm) simultaneously (No sound when both buttons are pressed at the same time) ’til the display quits blinking and beeps, 8-12 seconds, then release and read Fault Codes.

* This will also cancel the Fault Mode created by self-diagnosis at power up

Well i took the evaporator panel off and checked the frost pattern.  Only the top 1/4 had frost on it.  I removed the panel on back of fridge to check the coils.  The coils are very dirty!  So i will try to clean them.  I removed the panel at the circuit board.  When i unplugged it took a couple minutes for the solid red light to come on.  So its just stays solid red light.  I will try and get voltage reads today.

It was very hard to clean those coils!  I used the vacuum the best i could.  I then blew the coils best i could.  It made a mess in the house, but its better now.  I plugged back in and checking if a difference.  The problem could of been the coils were so dirty, they were covered.

I pulled off plug at cn90.  i do have a multimeter but i dont know how to measure the voltage from pin 3 to 4?  I tried but didnt get a reading.  I dont know if i did it correctly.

Leave the plug in place, there measurements are to get actual temps. If you don't have needle probes for your meter you can carefully use sewing pins to back probe the connector to take measurements.
