SAMSUNG ME6144W Microwave not heating

Recommended Posts

Purchased this microwave in 2010 and was working fine for a couple of years. Moved house twice & did not use again till the second move when I found it would not heat, all other functions operating as normal. Have been using my late father's LG unit which is still working perfectly after 25 years! Plan to move again later this year & have been trying to repair the Samsung. Capacitor & magnatron seem fine, replaced diode to no effect. Have not checked the transformer but I hope someone on the forum knows what could be a common fault with this model. Have attached the appliance label, in anticipation-Bruce

Let's start with an easy test first, what is the amp draw while trying to heat something?

Posted

Thanks for reply Vance, I am a novice so how will I test amp draw with my multi-meter?

Posted

If your meter has the ability to check amp draw it will have a loop clamp. The clamp goes around a single wire and then select ac amps.  This Klein meter has orange clamp to give you the idea.
