LG WT5070CW 9 yr old top loader washer rinse/spin stall and hum

Recommended Posts

Stalls when in the rinse spin cycle, just hums, after it has pumped out removed all the water,
usually around 34-36 minutes left in the run, sometimes 17-19 minutes left
Some settings work better than others, heavy duty, and towels seem to work better,
and hitting pause (lid unlock) and pressing play, and it will work again (fill and spin it out)

Couple/few other interesting things that certainly might help;
(1) In some settings, and only sometimes, in the beginning on the cycle after shimmy and shaking (weighing load)
it will sit doing nothing for about 3-4 minutes and then start filling and go on normally
(2) At the end of the cycle when its spinning like crazy, it will end, beep the song and unlock the lid,
but the spinnin goes on and on - I can open the lid and its spinning at high high speed and slows down on it's own
(3) it can be a light light load and will fill to the top in the rinse spin part of the cycle

Still works and using it, just got to check it half hour in or so, maybe pause and restart if necessary
thanks for everyone's help!~

I would immediately suspect a faulty lid switch. I don't have a wiring diagram for this specific model, but I would begin testing with the lid switch.

Look into the switch for sure, but don't rule out a control error. It's unlocking before the speed sensor says it's safe and it can't discern an automatic water level. Any one of those would be looking at individual loads of interest, but all together I'd have to consider the control is not interpreting input correctly.
