Returning guest presenter Aaron Wilson is back for another exciting discussion. This time, we'll be talking about...
The Science of CYA: How to Keep the Customer Safe, Document Your Work, and Not Get Sued
We take on a lot of liability as appliance repair techs, and that can get us into sticky situations whether we've done anything wrong or not. Aaron will be teaching us all about how to navigate this side of the trade.
We'll start by going over a tragic, real-world case study where a sloppy installation had lethal results, analyzing exactly how the installer's negligence caused this. From there, our scope will expand to what kind of safety precautions we should implement in our own work, both for the customer's sake and for our own.
But even if you do everything perfectly, there's still the famous "technician witch hunt." Well, we'll also talk about how to deal with that by thoroughly documenting your work and putting yourself beyond legal reproach.
A little about our guest, Aaron Wilson:
Aaron has been in the appliance repair trade for about 15 years, starting out by doing installations before moving on to bigger and better things. He worked for C&W Services as a Sub-Zero authorized servicer for a time and thereafter joined Mr. Appliance of Highland Park in the Dallas area, where he worked for years as the lead technician and field service manager. These days, he's making sure that all the appliances of everyone's favorite fried chicken place are in tip-top shape as the Quality and Performance Consultant for the southwest branch of Chick-fil-A. In addition, he has taught many classes on refrigeration repair and advanced diagnostics, during which time he also developed training material for the soft skills side of things, which he is delighted to share with you. On top of all that he's a certified graduate of the Master Samurai Tech Academy, so he knows his stuff!

Oven control board issues on Samsung gas stove NX60A6511SS/AA

I'm having issues with a Samsung Smart Things Gas stove model NX60A6511SS/AA my mother bought from Lowes in 2019. Issue is the oven control board is not displaying at all. I've had issues with roaches, mice & rats getting at the stove, especially in the housing behind the top rear panel where the control board is. I repaired three wires that the rats damaged behind the center rear panel & had to switch through trial & error two of the repaired wires to get the oven to work. The cooktop burners & their igniters work fine,I need to remove the oven control board & clean both sides of it if there is anything the roaches left behind to cause it not to display & what should be used to clean it,then dry it before proceeding any further with troubleshooting (thinking alcohol with a toothbrush),but what is your advice on it? I cleaned it once & dried it as properly as I could a few months ago in fact, but maybe I missed something or something else?

I used to have a multimeter, but not anymore,I need someone who has the proper professional credentials on here to gain access to the service manual files & schematics, which are in fact are on here for the following Samsung appliance:NX60A6511 which I believe is also for the SS/AA model to help me troubleshoot the issue & help me trace the proper wiring to the control board that supply mains power to it & to also check for any wiring that I might have missed that might also be damaged. If you need me to,I can take pictures & video with my phone of the stove with the top & center rear panels removed. Thank you.

I am not authorized to share any restricted information, but my advice is to procure a multimeter for testing. Either the control board is not receiving power, or the DC output is being loaded down, or the board is faulty. If you share photos I will try to direct your testing :)

OK,I found something blown on the board. It's where the flat ribbon cable from the keypad connects. (small square board on control board) That means I need to replace the control board & main wiring harness. Anyone know how much the wiring harness & board each cost? I found the board online for 48 dollars, but I need the part number for the wiring harness to search for.

Look at Sears parts direct, they have the exploded views so you can search for the parts needed.  Make sure to use the correct version number for the range.
