Westinghouse Bar Fridge freezing.

My fridge since defrosting seems to be freezing everything even on low temperatures. I admit I checked out a bit of ice. I found there are two pipes in the back of the freezer. One is attached to the actual freezer plate itself and runs down the back of the fridge. The other one is sticking out the back of the thermostat box and seems to be at a loose end. I've taken a photo of it.
I thought the fact that it is not attached to where it maybe supposed to be then it could be causing the freezing fridge problem. I'm not even sure what this little pipe is 4 but the drainage pipe seems to run down the back of the fridge.
Any clues whether this little pipe plays any role in the freezing issue?

Based on the picture of the area, the plate is frosting and location of the part your touching. Seems that part is the sensor the thermostat, usually they are clipped to the plate. May want to check underneath the plate for clips.

thats the thermostat

it needs to be clipped to the cycle plate as above to sense the cold temps

without it fitted to the cycleplate it wont register the cold temps so the fridge will just keep running

Thank you both very much for that.  You are 100% right.  There is a clip floating around in the freezer as well so that's exactly what it was.  I will reattach it and see how it goes.

I was wondering what that piece of plastic was..
