My dryer stopped working. I took the back off and found the wire going to the heating element melted off. The other one, as you can see is melted too. Why do you think this happened? I can replace these wires, but would like to know the root cause. What gauge do you think these wires are??hash=f3e3b2f4fa263af18b9a432da6116db0

Usually happens from the heat of the dryer element getting continuously hot and ends up loosening the terminals which will cause heat and then it'll get hot enough due to to much heat. Sand the ends of heater terminals and put new heat resistant connectors on melted wires making sure you have enough wire to make connections. May have to add same gauge wire to extend because you want to cut back far enough on damaged wires until you have shiny non comprised wire. Make sure not to make wire too long and secure it from moving parts. Use electric tape on whatever connection you use to attach the extended wires if you have to extend. While you're there find tech sheet and test resistance to heater to see if within spec on ohms setting. Of course due to legal issues lol be careful around electricity blah blah and you assume all risk. Good luck
