Maytag MVWC6ESWW0 - Centennial Series - Vibration During Spin Cycle

Recommended Posts

I just signed up on the site, hoping to get the manual for this washer, but apparently it costs $$$ and is mainly for actual repair technicians. The washer vibrates pretty badly during the spin cycle, to the point of it moving physically across the ground, maybe an inch or so after a full cycle. It also makes some bad squeaking noises when this is happening, not grinding, but like metal on metal, assuming it is the frame scraping against the base or something. Applying light pressure to the front of the washer stops the noise.

Either way, I am trying to fix this myself, and have the washer completely apart and replaced all the shock absorbing springs, and the plastic snub(?) pads. I noticed one of the pads was pretty worn on the front right side, but the other 2 looked okay. Also, plan to replace the agitator assembly, one of the plastic clutch pads was snapped off. Just waiting for this spanner wrench to show up and plan to remove the tub and clean that all out and take a look. Just curious if there are any recommendations.

Is there anything else to look out for as far as balance? Are there weights or anything in the tub that might be stuck? Would appreciate any insight, thanks!

Well, after replacing the parts mentioned above, the washer seems to be working much better, but still doesn't seem 100% balanced - but at least there is no more squeaking, and it is definitely not moving around as much during the spin cycle.

I haven't received any replies, but ce la vie. Is there any other general maintenance work worth doing now that I can basically disassemble the entire thing?

One last question, does anyone know how to tell the manufacturing date/age of the washer from this label? I tried searching around online and this doesn't seem to match up with any Maytag serial number break downs. I also tried sending Maytag support an e-mail and have got no response ... Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!
