Samsung electric dryer belt ground to death

Recommended Posts

Posted

Got a Samsung dryer that the belt ground itself to death leaving belt fragments everyone. I’ll replace the belt but am wondering if there is any root cause I should look out for that may have caused this. It’s an old dryer and at this point the drum has a gash in it but that’s all the way in the back. Not where the belt sits at all.

attached is a photo of where the consent ration of belt fragments are.

Right by the tensioner pulley. The motor spins freely.

From your picture the idler is out of alignment, the belt mark is all way toward the front of the pulley. Check the motor mount straps for being weak, also check the motor rubber isolators for deterioration.

Does the pulley spin? How about drum rollers?

Is the gash all the way at back of the drum perhaps in-line with where it rides on the support rollers and possibly caused the drum to jam from turning? which probably will destroy the belt.

Usually if the drum stops the belt will have a burnt spot.
