Hi

I have a beverage cooler that turns on . Compressor starts as does the fan next to the compressor.   Cooler is working fine and getting cold . A few hours later the unit has stopped . Dead!      Compressor is hot.     Let it cool and it starts up  and runs .

Any ideas

Could have a bad start device trying to run both windings at the same time. Beyond that I'd have to lean towards failing compressor or low on refrigerant and it's working overtime to keep up.

If possible need to know the running amp draw of the compressor.  Also need to know the LRA ( locked rotor amp) rating from the tag on the side of the compressor.
