Whirlpool Side by side Frig/Freezer (Model WRS315SDH202) is leaking water into the bottom of the freezer...once the water fills the bottom and freezes, water leaks out onto the floor.

2 possible causes:

1) Do you have an ice dispenser on the exterior of freezer door? If yes, check the flap seal. If warm air has a pathway up thru the dispenser it will cause thawing; water runs to the bottom & freezes, when the ice builds & reaches the door it will thaw on the edges and leak out.  Often ice in the bucket will become a solid block sue to thaw/re-freeze.

2) are the heating coils collecting frost? Is there frost build up elsewhere?

The defrost mechanism is blocked. There is a drain hole in the floor of the freezer under the heat coils - if this gets blocked condensation won’t drain & will pool & freeze (same eventual outcome as #1 scenario.)

It’s an easy fix - but getting to that drain may take some effort - mine is behind a panel - consult a diagram of ur model.

unplug power before accessing & be mindful of coils, they will be extremely hot even when covered in ice.
