Hi folks, need a hand with identifying this substance on the bottom side of a whirlpool fridge, above the drip tray. It's icing consistency, no smell. I discovered it while checking out the drip tray because the freezer completely iced over. I thought maybe it was clogged up but that doesn't seems to be be case since I unplugged and defrosted the fridge and it drained water out. But I'd like know if someone could answer what this gunk is and is it supposed to be there.

Thanks

Leave that stuff on there - it is thermal mastic paste for heat transfer from the compressor to the drain pan to evaporate the defrost drain condensate from the drain pan.
