  6. It is possible that it is bad. The specs may have something you can find for a resistance check. I've never herd of the shifter causing the no lock issue before, but its either gonna be lid lock or board. Veryfi that its getting power from the controller. if its powered and not locking then switch, if your seeing drops in power when it should be locked then board.

    B21CL81SNS/04 compressor control board failure

I would still be concerned about those capacitors - I don't think that is glue to hold the capacitor to the board. I think it's the guts of the capacitor that have leaked out possibly).
  16. Waher lid would not lock, so i replaced it with a new one. I read that the shift actuator may be the problem so i changed it as well. when is pluged in the machine the lid lock begian to click on/off and would not start the machine. the last error code showed F5E3 which is a lid lock error. Is it possible that the new lid lock assembly is bad? what shoul i be looking for? thanks for your advice.

  22. Most of you guys are probably not on here anymore but I wanted to give an update, only 65 months later! I am going to have some work done on my 33 year old house to get it in marketable condition should I want to move. So I was thinking about this range, that still does not work right, and if I should replace all the Kenmore Pro appliances. The fridge has never worked right either; only the DW has been trouble-free. So I reviewed this thread and made some notes about what I have tried over the years. I have spent over $800 on parts including temp sensor, relay board, control board, lower element, etc. Just the other night I wanted to warm up some BBQ ribs and next thing I knew they were sizzling. WTF? So I was perusing the Service Manual this afternoon and something hit me - an illustration of the oven control knobs showed them reverse of my range! Well I'll be, somehow the mode selector and temp knobs got put on wrong. When I thought I was setting the temp I was actually setting a mode. What I thought was Bake at 400* was really Conv. Roast at 275. No wonder it would not get "over 250." I'm not sure this fixes everything because I haven't done any testing but at least now what testing I do will be accurate and not so confounding.

Now, on to the workshop! ---------- This electric dryer has error codes that claim to be able to show whether the heater has gone open or is grounded. It turns out that the control can in fact sense this, and the way that the engineers pulled this off is both simple and tricky to wrap your head around. Watch us break it down for you... Topics covered include: Voltage measurements in a control board How the reference affects voltage measurements in a 240 VAC circuit How a very high resistance load impacts a circuit Why a triac would be used to switch a heater ...and more!
  24. I love hearing Nathaniel's opinion. His suggestions are solid. Also his voice sounds like a friend of mine's. Another down to earth person.

    B21CL81SNS/04 compressor control board failure

Thank you for answering my query, let me see if I can explain what I discovered. I desoldered the full wave rectifier that is adjacent to the two caps and found that the hot glue that had been used to mechanically attach the capacitor had flowed underneath the rectifier, become carbonized and therefore conductive and that's what was arcing. I cleaned up the carbonized hot glue replaced. The full wave rectifier and everything seems to be working swimmingly. I'll post some pictures for your edification. Thanks again to everybody who contributed.
